Our oils are cold pressed from sunflower or canola, grown without the use of pesticides or herbicides, on the family owned farm in Hudson Valley, New York.see our collection of oils
FontePuro was founded upon the idea to offer a locally grown, minimally processed, flavorful, nutritious and healthy oils- very different than the processed oils what are widely available.
Our family moved to the suburbs of New York City in 2009 from Europe and we were immediately amazed by the area’s beauty. However, finding tasty, healthy, locally grown and raised products proved to be more difficult than we thought. Organic products, available in groceries, were often trucked or flown in from thousands of miles away. We wanted to buy more foods locally, get them from people from our community, whom we could visit to see how they make and grow the food we eat.
Things started to change, and we wanted to be part of the change, so we started to look for a place to buy a farm in the proximity of New York City, where we can find people with similar mindset, who are growing and eating local - healthy food and where we could reestablish our natural roots and collaborate with them.
A farm, we found in 2017 in the heart of Hudson Valley, in Hudson NY, was answer to our dreams.
We found the community in Hudson very friendly, welcoming and embracing newcomers - like us. Also the agricultural opportunities were wide open, so we started to farm and make a farm based minimally processed oil. We launched our business with an aim to be an integral part of health-cautious and Earth-friendly community of the Hudson Valley.
1. Sustainable Farming
All it starts with soil and plants. We select untreated seeds and plant them in June into our soil. We grow the plants without using of herbicides or pesticides. We harvest the sunflower in October, we clean the seeds and store them in our silos on the farm. We monitor the temperature in our bins, if needed we cool the seeds with fresh air, to preserve them at highest quality.
We follow sustainable farming principles such as crop rotation, cover crops for winters as we want to maintain healthy soil and preserve it for future generations.
2. Minimally processing
We take the seeds from the silo, couple of yards, and press them at room temperature. We maintain cold temperature for pressing to keep all nutrients and antioxidants intact.
We filter our oil to remove any remains of hull which are bigger than 1 µm. (in comparison to the human hair is 17-181 µm thick)
We installed solar panels, to cover our electricity needs. We are committed to keep our Planet green.
3. Bringing the oil to you
Than we bottle the oil, put the labels on and bring them to the shops, farmers markets where you can buy them.
We trying to minimize the carbon footprint for our products. We grow locally, produce locally and try to sell locally.
